Theatre Stagecraft

THEATER ARTS: STAGECRAFT
Grades 9-12

Theatre Stagecraft is a unique stand alone course designed to train students in the crafting and construction elements of technical theatre. Activities will include set construction, carpentry,
lighting and electrical installations, sound equipment installations, painting, texturing and theater maintenance. This is a hands-on course that gets students working with construction tools,
power tools, painting tools and the various materials used in the practical production of theatre. Students will also learn the best practices of theatre safety and will be certificated in theatre
safety through a course offered by NFHS (The National Federation of State High School Associations) in conjunction with the Educational Theatre Association (ETA.) Stagecraft is a unique course in that although it is embedded in theatrical arts, does not
necessarily require a student’s interests to align with theatre.
